For proper operation the component requires two supply voltages simultaneously:
– From the detection line
– From an external power supply.
Design
The essential part of the siren is a piezoelectric transducer used to produce an acoustic signal and an LED with a lens located on the top of the siren. The entire unit is mounted in a housing similar to the Series 40 detector. To mount the siren on the ceiling or wall, use the G-40S socket made of flame retardant plastic – supplied as a set with the siren. There is a screwless terminals connector – placed in the socket – for joining the installation wires The connector has six terminals, two pairs labeled “+” and “-” as the input and output of the detection line and two terminals for connecting an external 24 V power supply.
